Scottish Coal is committed to ensuring that the effects of its operations on the environment and local communities is minimised.

The Company adheres to strict regulations and environmental monitoring procedures which cover dust, noise and vibration, water treatment and oil and fuel storage procedures. We work with local authorities, SEPA and other stakeholder organisations to ensure that we comply with all regulations.
A number of our sites are subject to independent monitoring and the results, which are sent to local authorities, show that we have an excellent track record.

When coal extraction operations come to an end, the land is restored as part of a pre-agreed restoration plan.
