Transport & Access / Location– the site benefits from excellent access to the trunk road network (M74). Do you support the location of the proposals away from existing urban areas (i.e. in diverting heavy goods vehicles from towns)?
Employment– What are your views on the identified industrial units/warehousing/storage and distribution facilities and business units/office floorspace proposed? Do you welcome the creation of more jobs in South Lanarkshire following the conclusion of coal mining activity within parts of the site?
Roadside Facilities– Happendon Motorway Services adjoin the site. Are you supportive of improved, complimentary roadside facilities (retail/hotel) at this location? Do you think a hotel with conference and commercial leisure facilities (i.e. spa etc) would be an asset to South Lanarkshire?
Proposed Land Use Configuration– it is sought to build upon existing land uses: the proposed industrial/warehousing/storage and distribution uses are to be located to the west of the M74 at Poniel (in line with the existing Dewars warehousing); and, the ‘people orientated’ uses land uses – office space, business units, hotel and retail – are to be located to the east of the M74 at Happendon Wood (complimenting the existing Happendon Motorway Services).
Do you welcome the proposed configuration of land uses? Are you aware of any reasons why this ‘split’ may not be appropriate?
